Waves of Womanhood

Immerse yourself in the captivating collection of real text messages exchanged among women, where friendship is the anchor and love is the guiding star. Over the span of a decade, these messages become the virtual diary of their experiences, capturing the laughter, the confessions, and the heartache as they navigate the waves of womanhood together.

This book has been developing over the last 10 years and I would like to thank the amazing women in my life.

To the Wise Women; the Yayas, the Ayays, and the Yaitas:

Thank you from the tips of my sandy toes. I am incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by such a vivacious group of women who have inspired me, guided me, and simply held my hand in silence when words were just too much. You have weathered life with me; sometimes during the sweetest moments like when the sun kisses the earth during its early morning rise, sometimes during the hardest and scariest ones like hurricane force winds bending and breaking trees outside (literally).

You’ve sat outside with me under the moonlit sky, drinking wine, and talking until 3am. You brought me Gatorade and crackers when I had the stomach bug. You held me while I cried. You made me laugh so hard coffee spurted from my nose. You helped me move. You came to visit me when my babies were born. You babysat, house sat, cat sat, dog sat. You shared your soul with me and held space for me to share mine. You’ve tolerated the nickname I’ve given you. You know exactly how I drink my coffee. You celebrated birthdays with me. You were by my side when my mom and dad died. You listened to my rants and rambles. You danced with me; in the car, in the kitchen, at a bar, during a concert. You have gotten me into shenanigans. You spent hundreds of hours on the phone with me, bridging the miles between us. You know where all my skeletons are buried.

You have secrets you will take to the grave. You nodded when I said, “I’m not going to do [X]” because you know full well I was going to call you in the morning and sheepishly say, “Well… I did.” You led me through the day with my mouth agape with surprise news. You sent me letters just to let me know are thinking about me. You have sat at my kitchen counter and shared your day while I washed dishes.

You are my number one, my ride-or-die, my mermaid, my pineapple, my fellow sprite, the keeper of my soul secrets, my therapist. You are the inventor of courage, a powerhouse of passion, and a wealth of wisdom.

The waves of womanhood are sometimes soft and slow and other times tumultuous and frothing. You've stood unwaveringly by my side through it all. Thank you.
